Karndean, a leading supplier of commercial design flooring, has secured its first ISO accreditation as part of its ongoing programme to develop and maintain more sustainable ways of working.
Following the introduction of an Environmental Management System last year, employees at the Midlands based headquarters and distribution facility have participated in a vital auditing and training process to ensure that all facets of the company are doing everything possible to minimise impact on the environment. After completing a six month improvement programme, Karndean have been awarded ISO14001.
Pat McDonald, UK Managing Director for Karndean, comments:
“Taking responsibility for reducing the impact that Karndean has on the environment is important to us and we have implemented greener working solutions throughout every level of the business, including the continued recycling of packaging from within our storage facility.”
ISO14001 is an internationally recognised standard which enables companies to improve processes in line with new carbon reduction legislation. Throughout and following the assessment process, businesses are focussed on measuring consumption and developing new ways to re-use and re-cycle material to reduce waste.
Pat concludes: “Karndean support the Government’s targets for a low carbon future and will continue to implement whatever changes we can to ensure that the manufacture, storage and distribution of our Design Flooring is as environmentally friendly as possible.”

Using a variety of highly developed technologies, including PU protection, K Guard + offers easy maintenance, saving time and money and works as a barrier against scuff marks, stains and fine scratches.
K Guard + uses PU technology so unlike many types of flooring, with the K Guard + system you won’t need to apply any additional surface treatment to your new floor following installation. During the life of your floor you may wish to rejuvenate it from time to time, and you can do so easily using Karndean Refresh Hard Sealer.

Karndean, the world's leading supplier of luxury design flooring, has announced a partnership with the Society for British Interior Design (SBID).
Following its successful networking event, at London's Material Lab - at which President of the SBID, Vanessa Brady, spoke - Karndean has kicked off the New Year by confirming a two year corporate society membership. This gives Karndean the opportunity to represent the specialist flooring sector to interior designers UK wide.

Karndean has expanded its portfolio with a brand new range of luxury floor coverings called Opus; specifically developed to meet the needs of the commercial market.
The Opus range benefits from a 0.55mm wear layer which offers a 10 year commercial guarantee and comes complete with Karndean’s K Guard+ finish, eliminating the time constraints of traditional sealing methods and lengthy ongoing maintenance procedures.
Featuring Karndean’s largest tile sizes, the new range is available in 48”x 9” (1219mm x 228mm) wood planks and 18”x 24” (487mm x 610mm) stone effect tiles, making installation quicker and hassle free, along with the 36” x 6” planks and 18” x 18”tiles.
